DOE STEAM TOOL QUALIFICATION

February 21 - 23, 2012 ~ 2.5 Day Workshop

Steam Tool Qualification

Qualified Steam Tool Specialists have successfully completed classroom and practical training, passed a rigorous exam, and demonstrated their ability to use the Steam Tool software tool.

Specialists apply this tool to help their plant or industrial customers identify ways to improve steam system efficiency. The U.S. DOE recognizes these industry professionals as Qualified Specialists, but does not specifically endorse any individual or company.

Become a Qualified Steam Tool Specialist

Industry professionals can earn recognition as Qualified Specialists in the use of the BestPractices Steam Tools. DOE offers an in-depth, 2-1/2 day training for steam system specialists, including 2 days of classroom instruction and a written exam. Specialists can assist industrial customers in using the Steam Tools to evaluate their steam systems. This training is primarily designed for steam specialists who are interested in becoming proficient in using the Steam Tools. To successfully complete the Specialist Qualification Training course, a participant must understand:

Class participants will receive a Prerequisite Test/Study Guide before attending the class. This Study Guide provides an indicator of the skill levels necessary to successfully complete the Specialist Qualification training. Completion of this Study Guide is highly recommended, but is not a requirement to take the training. Completion of BestPractices Steam End User training is also recommended prior to participating in the Specialist Qualification training class, which covers the majority of the Specialist Qualification training prerequisites.
